Biography

Pratyasha Acharya is a Joint PhD candidate in Health Systems Research (Health Economics) at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME), University of Toronto, and the Nossal Institute for Global Health, University of Melbourne. She holds a Master of Public Health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and has five years of experience in the private healthcare industry and the social development sector.

Pratyasha’s current research focuses on public health insurance programs in lower-resource settings, particularly in the Indian context. Her doctoral thesis examines the trade-offs between scheme expansion and effective coverage among the vulnerable and poor vis-à-vis enrolment, financial protection and health service usage, using India as a case study. Her research is grounded in a multidisciplinary perspective on health systems and policy.
