Biography

Mitch Steffler is a Senior Economist and member of the Scientific Publications Team at the Ontario Medical Association (OMA). His role is to conduct health system research in support of the team’s agenda.

Before joining the OMA, Mitch was a Researcher in the post-secondary education sector. In his five-plus years of experience, he has led and supported a number of projects and publications pertaining to education and health in Ontario. His current research involves the use of administrative and survey data to answer questions pertaining to health system quality, patient illness, cost, and access. Mitch has experience working with the following data sources: Health Insurance Plan (OHIP), Discharge Abstract Database (DAD), National Ambulatory Care Reporting System (NACRS), Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB), Healthcare experience survey (HCES), and CIHI case-mix grouper methodology.

Mitch holds a Master of Arts degree in Economic Policy from McMaster University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Wilfrid Laurier University.
