Lucy Xiaolu Wang
Biography
Lucy Xiaolu Wang is an Assistant Professor at University of Massachusetts Amherst and a Faculty Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, Germany. She earned a PhD in economics from Cornell University, a master's degree in economics from Duke University, and a BA from Central University of Finance and Economics in Beijing, China. Prof. Wang’s research focuses on the economics of technology innovation & diffusion in health care markets (national, regional, and global), particularly in the biopharmaceutical industry.
Prof. Wang utilizes rich institutional details and novel data to answer theory-motivated, policy-relevant empirical questions in the context of global drug diffusion and innovation, drug licensing and procurement institutions, the opioid crisis, cannabis legalization, and digitization in health care (both upstream and downstream).
