Biography

Drawing on health services research methods as well as more interdisciplinary approaches to policy and KT studies, my scholarly work attempts to understand how to measure and improve health system performance using different types of information (evidence, planning tools, performance data). Within this context, my research is organized into two related thematic domains, with two substantive areas of work under each domain:

1. Development and evaluation of health system performance indicators and frameworks

  • Statistical and analytic techniques for measuring aspects of health system performance
  • Frameworks for categorizing and understanding health system performance

2. Evaluation of the impact of performance data and other evidence on health care decision-making and performance

  • The impact of performance data on institutional decision-making and performance
  • Use of evidence and analytic tools in institutional and bureaucratic environments
